Needle position
Trying to find what the needle position should be set to, had a look through the manual and cant seem to see it.
Does anyone know what stock position is and what would be recommended when the bikes got a full akro on it and BMC filter? Many thanks Phil |

Re: Needle position
Cheers for that, thats what mines set to. Just having a job getting her to idle nicely, not sure what else to check, any ideas?
Shes a full akro and a bmc filter, af is 2 1/2 turns out 17.5 pilot with 155 mains runs fine above 1500, but sounds rough as below. Carbs have been stripped cleaned and balanced, exhaust has new manifold gaskets and the airbox is nice and tight . |

Re: Needle position
Idle speed high enough? should be ~1,500 or so.
Plus is this not a track bike? Jambo

Re: Needle position
Make that fine above 2500, sorry mistype. Like shes dropping a cylinder then back in again? Sounds a treat above this really crisp and responsive.

Re: Needle position
Do a plug chop at idle, which is easy, just shut off your warmed up idling bike, then look at the plugs. This will let you see what your idle mixtures are in each cylinder. 2 1/2 turns out could be too rich or too lean for one cylinder or the other.
I'd do a 1/2 throttle and a full throttle plug chop too. Sounds and feels good isn't always the best mixture you can get. Last edited by wideguy; 26-06-15 at 11:35 AM. |
