Default Metzeler Z6

What's the best tyre pressure?
I'm running at 33psi (2.25bar) front and 36psi (2.5bar) for the rear.

I'm not too keen on playing around with tyre pressures in the winter, but has anyone found if the Metzelers run better at different psi?

Metz recommend the standard 36/42 combination.

Rictus used these tyres, he played around with the pressures, but I can't remember what he said about his experiments.

PS There is a tyre section at the bottom of the forum pages, this post may be better placed in that section.

Don't mess with the tyre pressure on these, they don't like it, the greater flex in the sidewalls is unpredictable at best and can catch you out.

stick to 36/42 for best handling and predictability, trust me I've tried all the pressures and these work best.

Cheers Mark.

Is that on the Metz website? not being funny it's just that when I had mine fitted I was told that the pressures should be 34/36 and thats what I have been running them at.

I'll have to try 36/42 and see what thats like.

Richi, 31/33 is definitely too low.
That would be too low for the standard D220s. 33/36 is what Suzuki say for those.
Believe in Sid and Mark, they both have experience with /alot/ of different tyres, if they say 36/42 is the right pressure, then it really is the right pressure.
Plus, both have said that's what Metz recommend.

I really don't see that there's any extra information you can gain here.

Metzelers round carcasses in general don't seem to like softer pressures, they go Weird... Roadtecs and Sportecs both.

However, Metzeler recommend standard manufacturers pressures on their website, which means 33/36 on the old SV... Sid Squid, i know better to contradict usually, so I'm just curious where you learned otherwise.

I settled on 36/40 myself which suits me quite nicely, didn't like any more in the rear... 33/36 was OK but could feel a little unstable on harder cornering.

Yep, I'd like to understand the need for higher pressures as the tyre fitter told me "just keep with 33/36"
Is the 36/42 good for the K4 as well
