PS3 vs Xbox360
With PS3 only a few months away (Theoretically - in practice it'll be after xmas before most of the UK get an opportunity to buy one) which do you think will be most popular? I was holding off buying a 360 in favour of the PS3 however its rumoured the cost will be over £500 which seems steep for a console. I know theres a price to pay for technology and the new blu-ray format is brand new however im struggling to see past the Xbox at under £300, great graphics and a good online community. Should I wait?

Weve had a couple of 360s now, must admit they are ace, ive always prefered the xbox over the ps2 though.
the 360 is dropping £100 off the price for xmas too so it will be £200-£300 cheeper than the PS3. Also no games manufaturer is tied down to a console like they were on the ps2/xbox, so you should see 95% of games on both concoles, which means they should play the same, so no point in spending more money on the ps3 oh yeah the other reason to have a 360 is, there easy to mod to play copied games (and you can play them online via xbox lives now) |

Marshall where did you get the info that theyre dropping the price? I read the other day that microsoft had no intention of lowering price in near future (although they would say that as they dont want sales to slow down)

I've always favoured the PS2 over the xbox, the PS2 has always had the games I want to play also you don't have to pay a subscription to play online which (if you are legal) you have to do for the xbox.
Personally, I'm going to wait until the PS3 is available and do a comparison then. I haven't bothered with any of the hype because I don't see the point. You have Sony and Microsoft starting rumours about each other etc etc, I would rather wait and decide when I can see both consoles and what games are available. |

with the original xbox you couldnt play on xbox live with back up games and the chip turned on, but you could play online via xline kai and tunneling with copies.
with the 360, you dont need a chip to be able to play backup games, so there is no problem playing online through xbox live with your backups |

I'm a bit of a games geek and I currently have a 360 (amongst quite a few others), I was looking to get a PS3 but there is no way I am paying that much for a console at launch especially when there are very few games that interest me in the launch line up. I will however get one eventually.
I have heard that MS aren't going to drop the price of the 360 significantly as they will already be under cutting the PS3 as it is. Although you had to pay £40 a year for Xbox live (well you could get it cheaper if you shopped around) and the PS2 online service was mainly free it was a much better service. Live kept me playing some games a long past the end of the single player. |

Surely a half decent PC is better than a console? Easy upgrades, cheaper software etc
