Re: Oil preferences?
For 99.99% of bike riders....that's most of you btw, a cheap oil is ok to put on the bike, just change it more often than the proper more costly oils....
Now if you're a bit of a rider and live alot around the rev limiter then I would not go with cheap oil or car oil.... The essay could get really long on the pros and cons, but bottom line is you get what you pay for. oh yes, nearlly forgot, Castrol rules..... |

Re: Oil preferences?
If you know someone with a halfrauds card NGK cr9e which I use, work out at £3.99 each and 5L of their own bike spec 10w-40 semi synth oil is £21.59.

Ive used putoline before. I thought it was very good. Bike was smoother compared to castrol racing stuff. Similar to mobil 4t I thought.

Re: Oil preferences?
I've used putoline in the past. It's ok. Can't say it was bad for the bikes its been in.
However, the ZZR, its a bit of a fine specimen and much prefers Castrol, it doesn't mind putoline if it has to and it realllly doesn't appreciate such muck as rock oil :P

Do you notice a difference between the castrol and putoline? If so what?

Re: Oil preferences?
You're going to tell.me its the same aren't you Andy!
Castrol was always put in when it lived and worked down south. When it moved up here it got Putoline, as that was what was available. No real difference, it didn't disappear or anything, did its job etc. It's just castrol is all its ever been filled with until that point. It got rock oil in just before an engine overhaul at Orwells last year, it won't get that again. They refilled it with castrol and its a happy bunny again.

Re: Oil preferences?
castrol power 1 in my cb500. made a noticeable difference from the previous oil, but that may well have been just down to it being nice and fresh oil. looking at changing it towards 3k
