no power?
came home from work on my bike everything ok... was just about to go out on the bike and when i turned ignition to 'on' side lights lit, indicators work but do display on speedo, no fuel pump kick in... any ideas
PS. this did happen a few days ago but when i lifted bike up it started working and worked since... cheers. |

Oh I love these, give the bearest of information and a covering statement of "everything was ok and it just happened"
so it happened before, have you done the basics ? checked the 3 cutouts ?, checked the fuses, checked the know rub points on the loom ? might help if you followed the guidelines for asking tech questions and added a complete history/mods/actions taken. Cheers Mark.

Mods: lowers - tailtidy - hugger - front and rear mini indicators. fuses seem ok... these cutouts... clutch + side stand + kill switch? checked sidestand will have a ganders around... not very good at this stuff though.. |

It'll be one of the following (or should be)
- loose connector - kill switch is 'on' - side stand cutout is in the 'on' posistion (therefore the bike is in gear) make sure you are in neutral - battery is on the way out, which sounds v likely from the info given

been hunting for loose connector.... cant really tell if bike is in neutral as the wholde dash doesnt work =(
anyway of telling if the battery is on its way out? |

ok, bike in neutral (still same) indicator lights on dash work ( neutral light doesnt - main beam doesnt.... so im assuming FI and fuel arnt at this moment).

the in gear test is to attempt to move it back and neutral free wheels
you've just partially answered your own question dead dash is 1 symptom. another is difficulty starting and cutting out when the alternator isn't under engine power Halfrauds will test your battery for free and tell you if its goosed
