I had my Vitality health check today. Had to do a step test. Longest 3 minutes of my life. Also the most exercise I've done in years.

Well, no running for me for a few days as I have a horrible cold and cough. Struggled to walk up the side of the allt this morning never mind run!
Frustrating really as I have a new pair of trail shoes from Sportsshoes.com and I'm keen to try them out in the mud. I'll pop up a picture and initial impressions of them prior to running in them. Once I've been out in them I'll do a proper review.

Gary, I hope the cold is one of those that hits hard and quickly disappears. Way better than the ones that take weeks. Fingers crossed you feel better tomorrow.

I know that "new shoes can't wear them" feeling well.
My Asics were a lot nicer the second outing.
Hopefully they'll be even better for the next one too.

Think it's probably going to be Saturday at the earliest before I run, possibly next week.

These arrived from sports shoes.com earlier this week. They were just £34. 98p with delivery, and initial impressions are that they are light and appear to be very well made. They seem to be pretty robust and the outsole looks very grippy. I've worn them around the house for a couple of hours and they don't pinch or rub anywhere, generally very comfortable. I need to get out and run in them and then I'll give a bit more of a review.

Got out after work, 5.8 miles.
Dark cold and at one point sheet rain lashing sideways. I had to tell myself I was doing this because I wanted to. I am struggling with the dark, it does suck a little joy out of it all. It does however add another element running through a wood.

Good on you for getting out there, and a decent distance too.
I don't mind running in the rain as long as I have on the right kit for the conditions. It's also the feeling of achievement I get when I get back in.

Got out this morning with O. It was a bit of effort for him on his bike. He's hoping Santa gets him a new bike for Christmas, one with more gears. I told him I'd put in a good word. 4.9 miles. We just dodged the rain.

Good stuff. Maybe a pair of trail shoes to go with the bike!

I'm hoping to get out tomorrow morning at some stage, although it's likely to be a slow, short run as I'm still pretty chesty atm. Keen to try out the new shoes.
