Rain in front plug - Will it clear itself? - SV650.org

Rode in in the rain this morning, Not for the first time in the rain, but the first time I've ever had a problem with rain in the front plug (pretty sure that's what it is).
I had bought a fenda extenda, but never fitted it because I had never before had a problem (and ridden in plenty of rain) Stu pid I know

My question is - will the rough running, and cutting out resolve itself for my ride home tonight? or do I have to take action to clean/clear/dry the front plug?
I ask because I more experienced the problem in the London traffic (when it was dry) rather than the run up the A3 (not so much raining, as tons of spray off the road, which I presume caused it)

Yep, most garages will have it. Send an email round work, you'll probably find someone has some in the boot of their car they'll lend you.

Thanks all, email round work would reach 5 people, none of who drive cars into central London. Woolies hasn't opened an Oxford St branch yet. But I do pass a few petrol stations so will stop if it's a problem.

I found that even a good squirt of WD40 didnt fix my wet plug woes. In my experience the only way to dry it out once the water has got in there is to take the plug lead off and the plug out and give it all a good clean.

Its not hard to do and you can do it at the roadside with the SV toolkit. Personally I'd try and dry it out or clean it before you set off for your ride home Stu, I found that when I was running on one cylinder, sometimes the 2nd one would kick in just when I didnt want it to. Last thing you want is full power on a wet roundabout, mine did this to me and it nearly had me off.

If you've got time and whilst its still light clean it out before you set off for your journey home.

IMHO of course.
