I've been thinking about advanced training, how do you get started with Rospa?

I am actually waiting for my first session with the york IAM. The reason I went with IAM as it was the IAM instructors on our course and I found them really good. Also there is no ROSPA groups near me.

As you say, similar. But quite happy to accept that an IAM pass would be equivalent to a Bronze, it's just that we don't get the chance of being graded.

Cool, where do they meet? I was thinking of getting involved, but really to busy with the other lot now.

I did try the ripley IAM but I didn't really get on with them. Maybe being 24 not 64 had something to do with that.
Shame it must have been meeting me, wasn't it . Seriously I would be interested to know what (or who ) put you off.

basically there was a distinct lack of information for a first time-er
an example would be your supposed to get a copy of roadcraft and the highway code. These were available but not enough to go around everyone that signed so they decided not to give any out. fair enough but i asked when i might recieve one "i havnt decided" was the answer. You might get one when you get assigned your instructor. Ok but i would have to take a bag with me then i mentioned and the guy said "does your bike not have panniers?" i replied no and he said "well thats daft isnt it"

I also asked about the number of instructors to which the bloke chearfully bosted we have 27! when i asked how many were for bikes i got the answer of "3 but were not really a bike group" Now there were at least 3 other folks that signed up with bikes on the night so as to fitting instructon in it could be interesting! As i said we shall see what happens.

just kind of left me feeling a little underwelmed (although i am a sensitive soul as you know) so im going to see what its like next month. Basically it was like a blokes WI meeting.

although it did cheer me up when a lady there corrected me on the highway code and gave me the "ive been a driving instuctor for 15 years" spheal only for about 3 other people to say, actually he's right you know. get in

Sound like a set of c***s TBH. Were they all riding BMWs with a distinct smell of p*** following them round?
