Improving Curvy suspension?
Forgive my lack of mechanical knowledge but I'm abit lost, Ive found on here that I am best to use a 07 zx6 rear shock as an upgrade but will this improve the feel for carrying a pillion as well?
As for the front I really don't know where to start, I've seen alot about complete front end changes but I really don't think I have the knowledge to do this and I seem to get lost in all the talk of spring and oil changes when talk of emulators comes into it, I don't even know what this is!!! All I know is I can't afford a new bike and love the sv so I just want to improve what I've got but don't know where to start. Please help! |

Re: Suspension upgrade
For the front, just a basic spring change on the front improves things no end, with oil to suit your weight.
Emulators are fitted to the standard forks, but require modding the damper rod, not difficult and a cheaper way of really improving the damping of the front end. Its a little valve that fits inside the standard fork. Front end swap isn't as difficult as it sounds, but is expensive In your part of the world there are quite a few Orgers, you could ride up to Bibio's he's done the whole lot or Northwind has a Sv gathering dust in his garage. Zx6, Zx10 or GSXR rear shock all improve the feeling from the back end

Re: Suspension upgrade
for the front a CBR600 F3 internals swap and a new spring would be good choice this would more than likely run to £250-300 but gives you super dooper dampening. for the rear depending on your weight one of the SS bikes rear shock £75-100.

Re: Suspension upgrade
a few weeks ago i purchased a set of kawaski zzr600 forks (which are 41 mm cartridge forks with
rebound-only adjustability, similar to cbr600f3 and vtr1000f) for ~30 quid on ebay. a few days later another set went for a simlar price. just have to keep an eye out. Last edited by m`baubz; 02-04-12 at 12:31 PM. |

Re: Improving Curvy suspension?
bibio: the so-called E model zzr. it ran fom 1994 to 2003, give or take a year. the tubes
are some 3 cm longer, just like f3. on the plus side, you can have clip-ons on top of triple. bigjc: for all practical puropses - no. |

Re: Improving Curvy suspension?
Will a changing the rear shock work as I have twin high level cans, I read on here about it raising the ride height, I did pm theshadow about it as he posted something about the chain fouling but not heard anything back and would like to be 100% before buying anything
