All vehicles have to be in excess of 50cc, (and have a minimum speed of 40mph, I think...)

My daughter used to own a teeny-weeny car with a teeny-weeny
engine: Subaru Vivio 4WD 600CC 33hp. Theoretically that car could go on any road but in reality we tried to avoid motorways. Just unsafe with such a small engine. Going onto a motorway on a 125CC bike appears to be legal with a full license but I personally would try to avoid doing this. |

I'd say it'd depend a lot on the bike. You waouldn't want to do it with a 2-stroke 125, especially a low power one (scooter) or restricted one, that'd be asking to seize it. And you wouldn't want to do it with my old 125, because it was rubbish. But a solid, good condition 4-stroke shoul be fine. Depending on the bike you'll quite likely not make 70mph, but that was never a concern for me when I did it. I rode daily on a 60mph dual carriageway and the only time the lack of power wqould ever be an issue is if I did something ridiculous, like try and overtake a truck up a hill.

a CG125 for a few days during my DAS: my instructor lent it to me so that I could practice on my own before going onto a GS500. |
