Default Secondary Arthritis

Help!!!!
My beloved Im Indoors has been to the quacks today and got sent for an xray on his knackered hip. For all you guys who don't know he suffered a massively shattered head of femur ten years ago in May. When a woman driving a vauxhall Omega bounced him off the road and put a 60 degree bend in the frame of his TZR125. Spent 2 weeks unconscious, lost 2 months of his life and spent 6 months in hospital.
Hes a trooper in the pain department, it never did heal right, has a funny walk blah, blah. Thing is now hes developed secondary arthritis...anyone on here an expert? Apart from physio etc what can I do to help( hes s stubborn git who don't like his missus meddlin). Eventually he will need a hip replacement, as he was only 19 when the event happened, he was obviously too young to have anything done then apart from patch him up with a titanium plate.

The peeps in the xray department have seen hips in better shape on 80 yr olds...
I knew this would come eventually....just not now. Any advice would be appreciated

I have a touch of secondary osteoarthritis in one of my fingers, I broke it years ago and it reset in the wrong place causing inflamation and wear... Supposedly physio can help but to be honest, I've done enough physio for a lifetime, and the pain's manageable/ignorable most of the time. But, I'm trying glucosamine supplements at the moment on the recommendation of a friend, whether or not they've made any difference I really don't know but I've not had a bad day with it for a while so maybe it's helping. The medical evidence isn't exactly convincing though. Hey, if it's just the placebo effect that's still worth the price

Well, nothing like as bad... I had a fairly neat collapsed fracture of the neck of the femur about 2 and a half years ago, which has healed about as well as they do, with in-situ traction. Lots of soft tissue damage, funnilly enough the bone damage is fine just now but the ligaments and muscle loss can be trouble. It works pretty well considering, it'll probably get worse in the medium term but it's not a big deal for now- I can almost walk normally, I can even manage a very short slow run if I'm careful. Which is why I get annoyed when people slag off the NHS

Start hom on glucosamine/chondroitin supplements as soon as you can. I really helps me, I've got disc damage and had a ruptured ACL. I work in a vets and it makes a big difference to some dogs too.
