Matt side towards the lens, and if it has a split circle then it's the side with the prisms sticking out of it

That might be why infinity was slightly off. I'll have to check it again at some point.

Been using the OM-1 a bit more yesterday, taking pics of the bunniez when the are free range in the garden. I still don't trust the meter, will need to do more manual metering as perhaps I'm worrying over nothing. The aperture ring out on the end of the lens is strange, but the shutter speed ring is a lot nicer than the knob you normally get on top. Looking forward to seeing the pictures though, see how it compares to the lenses I use with Pentax. There's a photo a day thread on a new local photo FB page, and while looking through my scans of film pics, the tones and sometimes sharpness of the Konica and Olympus RFs is really nice, better than a Tessar, and arguably nicer than the SLR lenses I've got. Oh dear, I might be turning into an old fart.

To be honest I rarely use the built in meters, I usually use an external meter or just use sunny 16. I have no choice if the camera is aperture priority or has an auto mode though. Not much to photograph in our back garden, unless I'm being unimaginative. Just want to be able to get out on the motorbike or go anywhere really. Weather has been beautiful just lately.

Been sorting through some more gear. Got a Zenit EM with Helios 44M going if anyone wants it? I did have a shutter failure on a Petri-flex camera that I bought. It was working OK, slow speeds would lock it up, but then the curtain ribbon snapped and locked it up totally. Oh well, not as though I don't have any others to use!

It was odd, but when I took the shutter apart it had four blades inside but only three posts. Error in the factory maybe?

Maybe not, one shutters with five blades there are sometimes six, the first and last go in the same position, I think it's to help keep everything flat. With three blades though they should be stronger because they're wider, but I guess they're still fairly flexible. I've got another Certo RF, picked it up a while ago, it's a bit of a shed. I can't remember if it's 3 or 5 blades but if you fire it on top speed then often a blade will pop out of place. Not yet sure why.
