Question New Alternator ... How much?

Fitted a new fully charged battery into my Sv650s today and went for a ride. 40 mins later I was being jump started by a horsebox (of all things) near to Portsdown Hill

So, its not the battery, its gotta be something else and I'm just wondering how much a new alternator is going to set me back? Does anyone know?

Many thanks to the lovely couple (and horse) who got me back on the road even tho they had a long journey ahead of them

If you don't have a multimeter or can't do it yourself, get the system checked first. You can check the alternator output, and the regulator/rectifier before you buy stuff. The usual culprit is the reg/rect,assuming your battery is good and the connections are tight.
