Thank you sir. There are some things I wish I could have done different or better. But you know.

Re: Building From the Ground Up
Doing a little chilling in the shop. The rear tire came in and I got it on. Made a template for the rear subframe.

Re: Building From the Ground Up
Never done fiberglass before. Never worked with cushions before, never done apolstry either. Ordered my first sewing machine today
Spray adhesive and floral foam. Took Blocks of floral foam and glued them together to get overall size right. Frame by Jacob Martin, on Flickr Fiberglass and resin ontop after cutting the blocks to shape. I also covered it with green masking tape, has a wax feel to it so the fiberglass will release it when dried. Frame by Jacob Martin, on Flickr Welded my subframe, Then The fiberglass isn't quite smooth so I put bondo on the cowl. For the Seat I used Closed microcell foam for a firm base and then apolstry foam on top for softer feel. Frame by Jacob Martin, on Flickr Make a template for apolstry, cover with painters tape and draw a line where youll need stitching. then cut those lines with a knife, and peel off... then you have a template for your leather. Very nice project, just read the lot.
The ZX636 shock should be good - I have had one in my curvy for 10k miles, been very happy with it. |

Thanks for the feedback markc123
Got my first set of leathers. I Wrapped both the cowel and seat in oakleaf leather from Tandy leather, dyed them USMC Black, and then sealed them. See pic in post below. Last edited by Jacobus; 23-09-17 at 04:56 PM. |

Re: Building From the Ground Up
Finished the seat. I officially made 3 total and going with this one, I tried different foams and the more complex I got the worse it felt. This one barely has any cushion in it at all and feels the best. I think the worst was the gel pad. Just wasn't for me,
