"Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
Right so yes it may give your bike a bit more of a kick but does the premium stuff actually do your engine any good? I don't mean good as in it could be bad because of the extra power I mean does it really clean out your engine, etc like some people say it does?
Any opinions? |

Re: "Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
I was always lead to believe that although it didn't "clean" your engine out, it is much cleaner, hence better for it...??

Re: "Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
If you have a stage 3 full Works GSXR1000 or a supercar of some kind, im sure you could see a measurable increase in power. If not then you may well be disaponted for the extra what, 7p, 8p? a litre?

Re: "Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
im lead to belive the sv wont show any difforence between the two fuel's
you might see some difforence if the bike was only ever run on premium from day 1 |

Re: "Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
Sorry how does the octane rating equate to purity?

Re: "Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
Care to back that claim up with some logic and/or evidence?

Re: "Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
I would imagine that with a higher octane level it would burn / explode with a larger bang therefore perhaps reducing the amount of unburnt fuel in the engine? (just a scientific guess....)

Re: "Normal" Unleaded vs "Premium" Unleaded
When setting up my SV to race a few years back I ran it back to back sessions on the same dyno with Shell Optimax and then Shell regular unleaded. Not a blind bit of difference that we could measure.
I think the only performance gain you'll see will be due to the lighter wallet in your pocket. Last edited by flymo; 23-03-10 at 08:30 PM. |
