Default Exhaust Sealant?

Hi guys, i have just fitted a Scorpian Street Extreme to my SV650s, Any advise as to what sealant to use as a little blowing around the joints???

I have used a hight temp silicone sealant on the end can and its still there working well 1 & 1/2 yrs later through all weather...starting to look abit grubby though.

Mine was blowing only a small amount when fitted so i left it, Think its stopped blowing now, but havent checked/had any issues at all with it.

I have always used cheap as chips B&Q clear silicone sealant - why pay more

I used holts firegum, which is a tad pricey, but good, good stuff.
However, be sure to wipe any excess of straight away, else itl stick solid to your link pipe and take weeks to get off

Cheers guys, will take advice on board. Been reading a lot of people saying ordinary bathroom sealant, surelytis wouldn't take the heat?

possibly for a short time but wouldn't last to long under the conditions an exhaust goes through.

I had B&Q silicon sealant on mine for 6 months. Took it off the other day to put the original exhaust back on for the MOT and it seemed OK, no ill effects, and a bit of rubbing took the old sealant off. A bit blacker but none the worse for wears.

Silicone RTV sealant is longer lasting, you can get it from decent motor factors.
