Is it more polite when replying to a post to use the username or when you know, the persons Christian name -------what is etiquette?

Difficult - as you might think you know the Christian name and get it wrong - like Dave, sorry Rodney, in Only Fools and Horses. It would get confusing too - it took me several months to realise people used Greg when referring to Jonboy.

Username in my opinion...

Otherwise we may as well make our real names our usernames. :P

Maybe me that is old fashioned but I feel that I am being impolite when I do know the persons name. Still usernames from now on it will be
Falc--I get called a lot more than that at work

Usernames for general use, I think, but real names if you want to show special concern/empathy in unusual situations like berevement or after an "off".

So many people call me Jabba in real life these days that I've begun not to respond to my real name. They think I've gone deaf

I do know for certain that Peter Henry prefers to be called by his user name - his real name being Aloysius Farquharson-Abbott.

Perhaps I shouldn't have told you that......
