Default S to naked?

HI guys,

Just picked up a knackered sv650 with a seized engine, the head light needs replacing too,
Just wondered what I would need to convert it over to the Naked version.

Also anyone know anything about un-seizing an engine

thanks
Garv

Depends exactly what has seized ... you'll need to lift the cylinder heads and see what state the bores / pistons are in. If a crank bearing has seized then you might be better off getting a complete used motor, as engine rebuilds are not cheap, unless you've got all the tools and presses to do it yourself.

One of the reasons for selling my Suzi GT380 triple and getting an SV was that I holed a piston, putting molten ally all around the crankpin and big-end. I can do top-end maintenance & rebuilds, but splitting the crankcases etc is beyond my skills.

I rang a couple of reputable places and was looking at £900 - £1,000 for a complete engine strip, crank rebuild, rebores, piston kits and new seals. That didn't include any further problems discovered while the cases were open (e.g. knackered gearbox cogs or bearings). An SV motor might be a bit cheaper to sort, but I'd still estimate an easy £700 at somewhere like SEP.

Good luck with it!
