UK Three Peaks Challenge...
I'm doing the three peaks challenge in less than a month!
Just thought I'd post to see if anyone has any advice to share? I'm not particularly worried about fitness as I'm active, do a lot of cycling as well as hill walking - just not much of a mountain walker! I'm the amateur of the group having not been up any of the three mountains! So has anyone here done it and succeeded? I'm told weather will play a major factor in how enjoyable / successful it is! Any tips / advice is much appreciated! |

Re: UK Three Peaks Challenge...
I did all three its a major task mate. What timescale are you looking at completing them? Or are you doing them on three seperate trips.
Here is a shot from Scafell Pike to whet your appetite, my Ben Nevis was not with a digital camera so not on the pc. And Snowdon was such poor weather its just foggy so no views were available. More than happy to advise if you are going for it mate. |

Re: UK Three Peaks Challenge...
The three peaks is great fun, the final climbs will usually be lit by glow sticks when it gets dark. Be careful with the driving, the team I worked with a few years a go, turned a Landie over on the M6 trying to get to the next mountain in time.
Get some training in moving fast with a heavy pack and have a great time. |

have a great support vehicle that will allow you space to sleep between the walks, also lots of food drinks and more water when you get down, take a good first aid kit and the usual maps etc. we had four people carriers and a spare one for the rucksacks. don't forget he midge spray either
Good luck |

Re: UK Three Peaks Challenge...
I did the WoodenSpoon four peaks challenge this time last year and it was awesome and knackering, and I was only the driver!
Good luck! |

Re: UK Three Peaks Challenge...
Ive done all 3, but not at the same time, did scaefell first followed 5 months later by a winter hill climb of Ben Nevis in january, awesome, we were meant to do the carn more dearg arete that day but fear of avalanche forced us to do the tourist route, which was ok but a right slog , btw do you know about the magnetic anomaly at the top of ben nevis ? worth checking out for safety reasons, did Snowdon last, a couple of years later, did the tourist track up and the pyg track down. If I was doing it I would advise to make sure you eat and drink plenty, obvious I know, but often overlooked, take some spare socks as well, and enjoy it if you can. Btw did the jacket turn up ok ?
