Question AGM Batteries

Just replaced my very unhappy battery with a brand spanking new AGM one. I've been reading and apparently they are sensitive to overcharging, with the max. recommended float voltage being 14.40V. Will the SV's reg/rec cook it over time? I'm guessing it's been designed as a drop-in replacement for a standard gel battery so won't have this issue...

Standard battery isn't gel, (gel batteries are quite rare despite all those eBay ads), AGM is still quite specific - most batteries aren't.

Exactly which battery do you have? Make and model.

Aah yes. The standard flooded battery was replaced with a cheap gel cell by the previous owner which died after the weather started to cool (it's not even cold!!!). As a replacement I bought a Motobatt MBTX9U - 2 year warranty, cranks like anything and doesn't seem to mind the cold.

So Sid, shall I install the r/r from a CBR then?

Check the charge rate of your bike - if it's good then no H***a bits required .
