Replacing pointy speedo with aftermarket item?
Hi all,
Does anyone know what must be done to ditch the standard speedo unit? I'm wanting to use an aftermarket unit for a race unit i have. Ive got the one i'm wanting to use running and on the bike so i just need to take the standard one off. I believe that the bike wont run if i just take it off? Any ideas? Thanks, Jay |

Re: Replacing pointy speedo with aftermarket item?
when you say speedo, do you mean the speedo unit (in the wheel) or the clocks as a whole?

The clocks as a whole mate. I've already replaced the speedo drive with an alley part.

Re: Replacing pointy speedo with aftermarket item?
I've got Koso clocks on my pointy project - other than being a bit fiddly, it wasn't an issue - just hard wired it into the loom. once I worked out wtf was going on, that is.

Re: Replacing pointy speedo with aftermarket item?
Nice one, so everything runs fine when its not plugged into the standard gauges. Wasnt sure if there was anything special in the original speedo that was needed for the bike to run right.Thanks.

Re: Replacing pointy speedo with aftermarket item?
yep, should be all good - just don't disconnect the clutch switch (at the lever).

Re: Replacing pointy speedo with aftermarket item?
Nice one, I've kept the clutch switch working, just disconnected the neutral switch so it doesn't need to be in neutral to start it.
