That's like the way that you can buy the official BMW panniers bags for the Vario luggage I have at huge expense.

Or instead purchase the Argos set of twin chiller bags which fit perfectly, don't leak so are therefore waterproof to keep clothes dry and have really sturdy handles, plus they keep your beer and cheese cold.

They cost just £11.99 the pair, but are often on offer.

I think I'm easily amused.

Here's part of a twitter feed where museums are trolling each other with pictures of ducks (courtesy of thepoke.co.uk). I just love the idea of these institutions which are usually perceived as "stiff" having a sense of humour.

It's been snowing all afternoon.
I stepped outside just before dark to take out the trash, the snow covered scenery was beautiful and a light snow was falling.
Just as I reached the door to go back inside the village church bells began to play and I lingered by the door to hear their melody it seemed to fit the scenery so well.
I stepped back inside by the fire and the heat made my cheeks blush.
My old cat came over and layed on a rug by my feet in front of the fire.
The house was quiet. The fire was warm.
Sometimes the best things in life really are free.

Think I'd like a little of your snow Bill, it'd make a change from the grey gloom we've had since Christmas, too warm, damp and very little sunshine.

I have saved myself several hundred quid by spending an hour at the bench in the garage with the DVD recorder and some screwdrivers.

After a while DVD players/recorders start to act up. Simple reason is dust and dirt in the machine usually but simple players are so cheap now (£30 or so) most people just buy a new one. Ours is a recorder as we sometimes save down programmes saved on the Sky box to DVD and as it seems most new models don't let you do that, unless you record down to their own internal drive from Freeview/Freesat, I decided to have a go at cleaning it.

Outer covering comes off with a few screws and the top of the dvd unit inside comes off with another four, exposing the spindle the dvd clamps to when it spins up. The spindle was covered in bits of gunge and the whole machine was full of dust. Blew out the dust and with cotton buds soaked in electrical contact cleaner (isopropynol or rubbing alcohol would be just as effective) I carefully wiped the crud off the spindle and with a clean bud gently wiped over the head of the laser unit. Works perfectly again now. Did the same a few years back on a previous machine so I've saved a fair whack now with this trick.
