Default Ignition Coil Prong Replacement

Hi ya,
I have been troubleshooting some issues with my engine cutting out and chugging in and out of revs. When checking out the ignition coils and attempting to remove the prong connectors/sockets from the wiring harness side the plastic casing has pretty much disintegrated being removed due to it being so brittle.

I don't ideally want to leave it like this and haven't attempted to fully remove the connector in fear that it wont go back on/ will have further issues.

I have tried to search for a connector to replace this but have come up short. Any one know the name of this said connector or is it case of buying an entire harness and cutting off this one little piece and soldering it onto my existing harness?

I have attached a picture of the connector in question, please note this isn't the damaged one as it is on the bottom side of the ignition coil that I can't get a clear picture of.

Any description clarifications needed just let me know

Thanks

is it just the single connector with 1 spade on it?

Looks like it, seems to be just the single wire entering the plastic housing and spade connector that enters the ignitions coils prong.

Is it just a case of getting some spade ends in the worst case scenario it completely falls apart when removing?

what makes you think that its the ignition coil?

my first port of call would be to remove the front spark plug cap and see if its wet/damp then stuff a bit of rag down the hole and see if it comes up wet/damp. while i was there i would remove the spark plug and look at the condition of it then plug it into the cap and see if was sparking nice and healthy.

next up open the petrol cap and look for the drain hole then squirt some WD40 down there and watch the two rubber hoses that are dangling just in front of the rider foot peg on the exhaust side. if you see the WD40 dripping out of one of them then your tank drain is ok so there should not be any water in the fuel.

have you been riding in the rain or washing the bike with a jetwash or hose before the problem started?

has the battery got a good charge?

are the battery terminals nice and clean/tight?

what voltage are you getting at the battery while the bike is running and then again when the bike is running at 5k revs?

does the bike stall if you put it in gear with the side stand down?

do the basics before you go ripping the bike apart.

your problem sounds like wet front plug syndrome. the SV is well known for getting a wet front plug and causing the same symptoms as you describe.

Thanks for the detailed reply Bibio. Its a follow on from http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=222879&page=2
only now just getting to troubleshooting the bike apart as have booked some holidays to tinker with.

In the time between since then I put some Wynn's Dry Fuel in a tank which did nothing.

I'm going to check the spark plugs and boots again first before tinkering with the coils (which initial plan was to check the resistances)
