Default Sign Of The Times

As a First-Aider in a factory I'm used to dealing with injuries on a fairly regular basis, so when one of the young lads at work asked me to take a look at his leg this morning I didn't think anything of it.

I was horrified though when he dropped his trousers to reveal a very nasty, seeping hole in the back of his thigh and told me that someone had shot him with what he presumed was an air rifle on his way to work that morning.

I immediately told him that he had to go to the hospital, as the pellet was probably still in there and would have to be removed. This in fact turned out to be the case. X rays revealed that the pellet was shattered against the bone, and he was admitted straight away.

He was the fifth person to go to the hospital with an air rifle wound that morning. The police had caught those doing the shooting...............two 12 year old boys.

I'm so angry, and sick, and horrified. What the **** were two kids that age doing with an air rifle? And what punishment will they get? **** all!

Sorry, rant over.

Oh joy! Pass on me best to the lad.
I'd like to say that the two numpties that did it will suffer, they'll def have a firearms ban for life. Like that will stop them.
I've been shooting air rifles for about 15 years both for dinner and targets (sometimes the targets taste better!), and I have never come across anything like that!

Lissa - a well deserved rant!!

I assume they were metal pellets? Is the gap of danger between an air rifle that fires metal pellets and a gun that fires bullets not sufficient for both firearms to be seen under the same light? Using this circumstance as an example I would say, yes.

Whether you are shot by a 7.62 high power round, led pellet, or potatoe it is still a firearms offence. Hell! If you just point a gun-esq thing at someone it is assault.

There is a difference between a firearm and an air rifle, and it's all down to power! (12ft lb). But that prob doesn't really comfort the lad who got shot.

Why did the parents let them out with a Gun?

What is this world coming to?!?! 12 yearls old!?

I totally agree... I think the PARENTS should be punished and/or fined.

They are supposed to be responsible for these kids apparently.

Aren't they supposed to love, care for, look after, teach right from WRONG??

Obviously NOT in this case!
