Default ssex Air Ambulance Motorcycle Run 12th Sep 2010

Hi Folks,

Anyone doing the Essex Air Ambulance Motorcycle Run this year?

I've looked back through previous years' threads, and looks like it full of nutters, of which I'm not, but I do fancy the chance of winning a BMW F650GS.

I don't think I could ride down (from Buxton, Derbyshire) do the run and then ride back. So plan to head down with a tent and sleeping bag the day before, do the run and then head home. I don't plan to ride with the loonies, so if there's anyone thinking of going that want's to bimble along with me, somewhere way behind the back of the pack, I'd be more than happy to meet up.

It's a while off yet, so just looking to gauge interest and whether to make a few days of it, or just keep the visit focussed on the run and going home.

Don't know yet if i'll be doing it or not this year, i didn't do it last year but have done it a few times previously, there's usually around 4000 bikes if i recall & they just get released steadily in batches so it isn't a case of the loonies getting away first, they can fly past you at any point, mind you for the first few miles it's a bit congested & all but the bravest/dumbest ride along at a fairly steady pace, after that i have always managed to ride along with friends at our usual sort of speeds 80ish with no real problems, the only other problem can be trying to find somewhere to park your bike when you reach Harwich, overall it's a decent day if the weathers kind.

I did it last year, and we were one of the last groups to go, it wasn't too bad, although there were some nutters weaving about.

Parking wasn't too much of a problem but we had quite a walk to get to where everything was.

There were harleys in front limiting the speed of us (deliberately)

I think the person who won the bike last year didn't even go on the run. Or possibly have a bike

I haven't done it before. My MOD 1 is on thursday and I have the SV on the drive right now going through some... what you call..... changes for the better... the poor neglected thing *starts talking sappy whilst stroking the tank*

Hopefully I'll see some of you guys there... but by looking at the lack of uptake to this thread.... maybe I won't....

Come on ladies... turn up for a good cause!!!

PS... my bike only speaks Suzuki Sv... its slightlit intimidated by all those Kwaks speaking jibber jabbish around it....

Good luck on your Mod 1. I'm hoping to have my brother up and running on the bandit so he can do the run as well, otherwise it'll be me, my fther, and possibly a lass from southampton (if i can convince her to come see me)

Boot, if you do decide to do it, i have a spare room in colchester
