Default Piaggio scooter

Anyone know anything about them?

Been offered a 200cc plastic thing (no model badge, but got the leg room), 98 vintage, no MOT but should pass without much work (a days work or so), not really my cup of tea but it's local and cheap.

Might be a comfortable way of getting mobile in the short term, and as its no money I don't mind binning it in a month or two.

Anyone ?

Cheers Mark

Find out which model it is.

Then check the belt is not sleeping, bearings on the flywheel are 2 common issues on automatic scooters

Piaggio are the holding company for most of the Italian scooter manufacturers IIRC - eg Vespa, Gilera, etc

If it's a 200 it sounds like it's a 4 stroke, although '98 vintage could mean that it's a stroker.

Either way they're cheap & cheerful & should be reliable once you've had a chance to sort it out

. . . just don't try racing anyone away from the lights

We used to get a few Piggies in when i was at work - absolute **** to source the correct parts for them... but other than that we only ever seemed to deal with belt n bearing issues as 600+ mentioned.

OK found one the same on EBay (going for less money to), and a bit more about them, it's a 180cc, good for about 80 mph , two stroke. electric stand (could be useful).

Now this is sad, http://www.armec.com/gipsy.html

(Slightly worrying this )

Cheers Mark.

Yeah, but more worrying is when you see it and think, Oh look that's a good idea

Well they did say I might suffer the odd side effect of the head drugs

Hmmm - it's gotta be the drugs. I'm on gabapentin and my first thought on it was "oooooh, crutches can go there, knee brace would be fine here" etc.

Yup.

Gotta be the drugs.

ok so it's an hexagon - as said b4 belt and bearings other than that check that the exhaust is not blocked or close to that from oil and check to see if it has been chopped in half and then put back together

it's done to get it cleaned if u don't wanna buy a new one
