Unhappy Tyre Blues!

Man,

Bank holiday weekend, was going to go for a wee blast.

Then I spotted a big feck-off screw in my rear tyre.

Talk about putting a downer on it.

I've been told I can't get a ZR rated tyre repaired, it's illegal.

It's only got 1600 miles on it and 3mm tread left.

There are places that will do it, if you're happy to take the risk I'd take the wheel into an independent tyre place.

That's balls... It invalidates the speed rating is all, but it's not illegal to patch 'em. it's not really much of a risk either unless the tyre's badly damaged (that's why external patches are a bad idea, they tend to last well but you don't know what the carcass looks like inside)

The worst that happens if the patch fails is that you get the same puncture again. As one of the SVRiders says, tyre patches aren't made of explosive

I did, oh, 7000 miles with a patched Roadtec including 2 trackdays and, let's call it extended speed testing up the M6 But, personally I'd always get 'em patched from inside.

Cheers Northy,

That's making sense, I know my bruv got his R6 rear plugged and done 2 days at Rockingham, he done that same extended speed testing as yourself

Next question then, anyone got any recommendations of a half decent, clued up tyre dealer that can sort me out?

I am in Glasgowshire, but i'll use any excuse to get out on the bike.

Cheers
