Default Ethanol?

Can I put the petrol station ethanol (bioethanol?) in the SV without any drawbacks (and would there be any advantage)? Morrisons in Norwich do it so I could be worth a slight detour to fill up each week.
Cheers.

Nope. You will destroy your engine. The Bio-ethanol pumps are for flex cars i.e. Saabs new 9-3 Bio power thing.
Basically E85 is an 85% Ethanol 15% Petrol Mixture.
I believe the max mixture you can do would be E10 10% Ethanol 90% Petrol.
Sooooooo don't do it.

As far as i know the Fuel they call BioEthanol in the UK is only 10% ethanol.

I havent heard of E85 being sold in the UK.....well not in East Anglia anyway.

Morrisons first introduced E85 in 2006. Currently there are a few in East Anglia.
Dereham, diss, norwich, lowestoft.

You could almost certainly get the SV to run on E85 if you wanted, Bike have converted a Daytona 675 tripple. You can't do it in standard trim though and you'd need at least 30% bigger jets. What else would need to be done to the fuelling I'm not sure.

Yeah, with mains big enough to stick a knitting needle through

Although you could run a mentally high compression ratio

It can corrode some o-rings and hoses as well... Though whether or not it does with the SV, who knows. There was a brilliant comment from Triumph in that series in Bike- "Yes, it'll probably destroy the fuel hoses, fuel pump and throttle bodies. But we don't know how long that'll take, so with any luck it'll be a few years- find out for us would you?"

That'll be me, then..

Well, I usually use 10% ethanol in my '00. Runs no differently as far as I can tell, And has 90,000 miles without any apparent problems.
