Proposal for another North Wales run...
OK, due to popular demand (and me being bored in the office) here is a little wee vote for dates of another North Wales run.
As all are more than aware, the last one was eventful but only lasted one day. The days ride was also a little short IMO, but people had to travel a fair way. What I'm looking for out of this poll, is when people can NOT attend. Vote for dates you'd be UNAVAILABLE. Note, if you're available Saturday but not Sunday (or vice versa) please consider this that you are available, but stick a post on this thread to explain. The poll is a multi-vote poll. Meeting point will probably be Ponderosa, as this makes a natural start point for an attack on Wales, either going North or South. Times and routes will be sorted later, this is just to get an idea of when, and how many. Hopefully we'll be able to sort something out. Give me a few mins to sort the poll out. |

Re: Proposal for another North Wales run...
Luckpants, how do the roads compare with the lakes? sorry to derail, but no point me voting if it's not worth coming.
18 Aug I'd like to keep free for Lydden Track day, otherwise no plans. |

It's worth coming. Just as twisty (more so in IMHO) and better surfaces that the ones we rode (overall). You might want to change that can though, they could hear that in the helicoptor!

Re: Proposal for another North Wales run...
I'm biased, but from the MIGTs rideout last weekend (I know I'm not comparing the lakes like you asked), one comment from Steve (steveg) was that the roads around Matlock Bath just don't compare to those in Wales.
There's a lot more technical twisties up here. Stuff that you can't see where the bend is going, and so you have to read the road a lot more. But there's also wide open roads. Most of it is up/down hills, and some of the surfaces pretty bumpy at times. My favourite corner is on the A543, left hander as I'm heading home, bike cranked right over screaming at the top of 3rd gear. Hold the throttle what what seems like forever then as the road opens twist a little more & up to 4th, 5th, sweep right into 6th & then back down to 4th on the brakes for a sweeping right in the middle of a dip. When no traffic is coming the other way the right hander can be done easily in the upper half of 4th gear on the wrong side of the road (assuming the floor isn't damp - cats eyes aren't nice when wet & you're cranked over). If you have the bottle for it, both those two bends are easy candidates for pegs on the floor. Great views up there too. I'll let you know my opinion of the lakes after the AR. |

I will be interested in this, I'm free most weekends to be honest, my missus wants to go away again at the end of july to the start of august for her birthday. So those dates are defo ruled out for me.
