For the Black Forest you want the B500 / Schwarwaldhochstrasse, a great road too, and silly speed inducing if you lack self discipline and have a heavy throttle hand. For that reason I love it!

There's a lot of great roads in Germany, maybe too many to sort through. My wifes relations live in the Old East Germany and the Hartz mountains have some truely great roads, although there are still a few bad roads left from the former times.

In Germany there are still plenty of private B&B's you need to look up 'Pension' they tend to have signs out side the house or you can stay in a Gasthof which is more like a pub with overnight accomodation.

I used to live near that Hartz area. It is nice for bikers indeed. Since I have moved it is a ride of ca. 60 miles to get there, but my mates and myself still enjoy it as often as we can.

Just scroll down and see all roads worth to be ridden - located, evaluated and some with videos as well.
My personal recommendation is the former hillroad racetrack known as "Kyffhäuser" (named after the mountain itself and also the very first route listet in the chart). And don't forget to try the best Bratwurst you can get at the foot of the mountain, right at the biker's meeting point.
Inns, B&B etc. will be found along the roads. Just look out for the "Pension" or "Zimmer frei" signs. There are plenty and most of them biker-friendly as shown by individual symbols.

Thanks Skeletor, I was looking to go in the middle of May. But I just looked at the average weather and it seems to rain more in that area in May / June than it does at any other time of the year??! Is that right? (Link: http://www.worldreviewer.com/holiday...emberg-germany)

Weather forecast for this area is like gambling.
Happened that the SVrider meeting used to be in the Harz (in Stiege) for a few years in a row, usually around August, and it's always been very mixed up weather - year by year. So I would deny that there's certain rainy period.
Might even be that there's nice sunshine although the forecast was bad or vice versa, same as in other middle German areas.
Best thing is to check it right before a trip. But I know this doesn't really help riders from far away.
Just don't forget your rainsuits and you'll be fine, as you guys are used to rain up here I guess.

Didn't review this, I'll sum it up by saying it's the best trip I've done. I'd completely underrated Germany, I loved it as did my mate.

Anyone going to Black Forest must stay here (http://www.pension-williams.com/) in Seebach. Excellent base to go from and just bang on.

Will be crossing through here again next year and stretching out to Austria.
