Rear light 99 SVS
What kind of bulb do I need for the rear light on a 99 SV650S?
Also what kind of screws go in here As mine there seem to have come loose and fallen off causing my fairing not to fit properly. |

Ok interesting development, the rear lights come on when I hit a brake pedal/lever but not when I put the lights on or put the parking lights on.
What could cause this? The wiring is far too complex for me to try and spot faults. |

The bulbs are ordinary stop/tail ones 12V 5/21w.
Does the position light at the front work? It's on the same circuit as the rear light. If yes, and as the brake lights work showing the earth, (neutral), is connected, (they're shared), I'd check the bulbs first. The missing screws are self tappers with a large domed head.

If I put the bike into the parking position then the front light works normally but the back one doesn't.
If I turn the lights on normally the front ones work but the rear one doesn't. Yet if I press a brake lever both of the rear bulbs light up perfectly. From this I gather that the bulbs themselves are ok (cos they light when I brake). I'll go buy some of those bulbs you said just to be sure (thanks for supplying the info). |

The bulbs are 2 filiment items (one 5W, one 21W) The brighter of the 2 fillaments (21W) comes on when you brake, the dimmer of the 2 (5W) is used for the tail.
You could have the same filament blown on each bulb, but it could also be a dodgy comnnection somewhere.

Never found a scrwe that's a match seperately, I just bought a wee bag from Suzuki. I'm sure they're out there, but I got fed up looking.

Re: Rear light 99 SVS
Since we're on the subject of the rear light...
Got myself a clear lens, now for the bulbs... LED's look kinda cool, and I'm wondering if these will work for both the tail & brake light, just like the 2 filament bulb. Cheers |
