Default EBC vs DP brake pads for modulation?

Hi. Another quick Q.
Replacing rear brake pads on K8 pointy. I have a habit of locking up the rear wheel (I know, I really need to sort out skills instead of hardware)

I'm looking at fitting either the DP sintered or the EBC pads that everyone seems to recommend. As I have a choice I thought I'd see if anyone would recommend one over the other for better modulation. I'd like to have more gradual brake response for slow riding instead of immmediate full on bite.

If anyone has experience of both, are they much of a muchness or is one more full on than the other? Cheers.

Can't help with pads, but you can get a bolt-on brake peg (just the bit your foot goes on) so you can shorten the lever to reduce leverage and lessen the chance of locking. I too have a similar problem and will be fitting one.

I prefer the DP pads, to me they feel 'softer' so I can squeeze the lever harder and feel them squishing on.
The EBC feel harder and more brittle and don't have any give so they don't feel like they are doing anything more the harder I squeeze.

However you could go for the EBC organic pads which have much less bite so should be even easier for you to modulate. Blipping the throttle before downshifting helps to match revs so you'll be less likely to lock up as well.

Organic on the back job done, less bitey than sintered. Actual make probably won't make a massive difference.

DP pads are my all time fave pads. nice feel to them, the more you squeeze the more they give stopping power.

I've ordered the DP to give them a go. If I still have problems I'll swap them out, or preferably hone my skills instead!

DP in the back of the Tiger better than the stock ones tbh.

While I was having a problem with the back making one pad wear out quickly, I started fitting the cheapest I could find. I didn't find any downside that I could mention. On the front I have EBC GG, which seem fine.

If you find you lock up the back, try adjusting the pedal down a little so it takes a more positive push down.

Edit - if I wanted to try DP, would you recommend DPxxx or SDPxxx versions?

This may seem like an odd question, but when do you use the rear brake enough to wear it down?

Since riding SV I have got into the habit of tapping the rear brake pedal when bike is slowing under engine braking just to show brake light - hardly any pressure on pedal so would never wear pads out that way.
