My Sons godfather is a qualified diver. Hes off to do a course soon to join up his welding and diving and further his career. He's a bit good at both, spends his work time up on the Shetlands.
His Mrs is an instructor and has a hand in running a local dive centre as well as teaching students. She used to teach abroad.

Apparently there's lots of money to be made finding old bombs and other stray munitions around the coast under windfarms. That's what he's aiming for in the new training and qualifications. He is a bit nuts though

Dived in Thailand a few weeks ago - got 2 dives in with Manta Rays which was awesome.

Still not convinced by this cold water we have round here.

(or... get yourself a decent drysuit and thermals and you really don't feel it as much as you'd think)

Is it worth all the expense to dive in UK waters? Lots to see? Visibility good?

Depends where you dive, my sister has done some in Channel Islands, Scotland etc, where the clarity is excellent.
