Default Question about Wheel Alignment on a K5 650

Hi there forum - quick wonderment more than anything

I helped a friend align the rear wheel on this K5 650. We got everything lines up using the guide-markings on the swing and and the nick in the triangular bracket - only the bracket on the drive side started to turn and is now out of line ....

I can see from the other side that there is a lip on the triangular bracket that in effect wedges to the underside of the swing arm to stop it from turning - on the drive side this lip appears not to sit under the swing arm - my guess is that its bent - my question is - should it be (i am hoping not)

If not then we'll simply replace it

i think i may have jus answered my own question -

but your wise thoughts would be appreciated

cheers

Afternoon Mike

The markers on the K3+ bikes are effectivly bent bits of metal with a hole in the middle, so if one's bent, you can bend it back again after removing it from the bike if you want. It's not load-bearing or important and acts as a washer only, as far as the axel is concerned.

There's a fair bit of play in these anyway so they're not terribly accurate as a tool for sorting out wheel alignment, more a rogh gauge than a fine instrument.

Good luck, whatever you choose to do

Jambo
