Engine rebuild/Tuning for Manx Grand Prix
Hi
Can anyone give me advise please on the following I need to prepare my 2005 injection MiniTwin for the MGP and some Irish rounds Engine do I need to do anything with the crankshaft ? what conrods ? which pistons ? which cams ? do you skim the cylinder heads to raise compression ? do you do the 3 angle cuts to valves and seats ? what cylinder head gasket do you use ? do you change the valves ? is the standard clutch ok to use ? what else can be done to give a reliable 80+ BHP ? Chassis which model GSXR600 USD front forks to use ? Thank you Paul Judge (Swift Racing) |

Re: Engine rebuild/Tuning for Manx Grand Prix
From my reading around the subject I would start with a 1gen engine, fit some OEM busa pistons, do the cam swap and either fit flatslides or bore the throttle bodies out. Add a leo vinci system. This should get you in the ball park.
TWFforum try here Forks I would use the K4 ish ones, can't remember offhand but the newest that still had the high flow type valves. If you're going to be getting them revalved then it doesn't matter much I suppose. Edit: it is 06 and newer which does not have high flow valves

Speak to the experts - sv650racer on here or her husband Steve Jordan who does lots of motors for the Irish and Manx roads. He runs poss the trickest sv in the country himself so knows what is worth it and what isn't from experience rather than just Reading forums!

If your about give me a call at the shop and can run through whats worthwhile and what isnt. Plenty of options available dependant on what budget you will be running the bike on. Steve has done lots of 650cc 82bhp bikes for the roads running well within the reliability band and on a fairly lowish budget too. I guess you still havent got the R6??.. |
