Default one off FI fault

Hi all

Went to jet was the bike (I know, wash by hand, but it still had muck from north wales 2 on it)
Pulled up at the garage, turned off the ignition, read the display on the jetwash and it said OFF. so I went to start the bike again (after only a matter of a few seconds), but the FI light started to flash, the engine would turn over but not fire.
I checked all normal starting functions like kill switch etc. All seemed to be in order. I tried in vain a few times, turning ignition off and on, side stand up & down, but nothing.
I pushed the bike e few yards out of the jet wash bay to where I could put my helmet down safely, took helmet off and tried again.
This time I could hear that the feul pump was not pressurising when the ignition was turned on. So I turned the ignition switch off & on a few times then I heard the pump start, thumed the button & started 1st time.
I have a meta357 (something like that) alarm fitted.
I have heard that security cameras and things like that can mess with the imobiliser. Is this true???
It hasen't happened since.
What do you think? one off glitch? or sign of things to come?

Cheers John

I think you just got a connector wet and when the excess water dried off it was alright.

I had a similar thing happen, actually I had an M357 meta on at that time too, I'd been out and there was a lot of water running down a hill near me, so for a good mile was in maybe 3/4" of water (and hot sunshine, typical)
Stopped at the local, when I went to start it the immobiliser wouldn't disarm, 20 minutes later after pushing it halfway home it started fine.

It was rainingg at the time and there was standing water leading into the forecourt, so that's probably it then

It puts my mind at rest a bit
Every time I turn the key, I think will it / wont it

Thanks for that

Cheers mate

Not really, that mudguard won't direct much away from the electrics anyway.

My immobiliser fault was with all standard mudguards (on curvy)

wet front pot stopping the fuel pump from getting power? Highly unlikely IMO

I manufactured my own tail tidy from stainless steel to fit on the orginal mounting holes under the rear panels
The alarm is fitted under these panels & I know that I did not profile the inner plate that locates into the rear light assemble correctly, so thare are slight gaps in the tiny panel on top of the tail under the grap rail.
If going at speed in the wet, no problem, you get the roster tail effect off the water from the back wheel, but at slower speeds the spray just covers the pillion seat.
Water can & does ingress here, so can get to all the electrics under the seat
I must look at the sealing of all these holes, some time

Silicone sealer in the gaps, and loads of grease or ACF50 in the connectors
