Default Removing R&Gs to fit fairing.

Now that I've got a fairing to fit I started removing the R&G crash bungs, to discover that they are fitted with longer engine bolts to accomodate the extra width of the bracket.

I can only assume that I've got to get myself some new engine bolts from the dealer? Any idea on cost or availability?

I think I could just unscrew the plastic bit and leave the bracket under the fairing?

But then it would be nice to ebay the crash bungs as a usable set.

Replacement engine bolts are cheap enough, as they get forgotten a lot when people sell bikes with crash bungs on.

Is that bolt going into the front cylinder head mount the proper one? The curvy one uses an allen head bolt.

Not the OEM bolt Chris, its a hex head like the rear cylinder bolt!

Yeap you will need the standard bolts, they are cheap. If you want to retain the R&G's you'll need to order the proper metal mounting bracket which holds the bung but also secures the fairing.

Thanks for the offer fibble, I'm in Plymouth. I would like to keep the R&G's if poss. Does that bracket replace the black bent fairing mount that is used OE?

Seems like a much better idea than mounting bungs onto the above mentioned bracket.

I'll drop R&G an email to see if I can get those brackets.

R&G say that whilst some of the fittings for the bikini faired kit and faired kit are the same, it will be cheaper to just buy the full fairing kit.

If a component costs more than the entire kit then they must be losing a fortune on ever kit the sell!

You'll never get a straight word from R&G!!!
