Default Removing an immobiliser?

I'm thinking of removing my old Meta M1 immobiliser... It only gets me about £20 off my insurance and it can be a pain in the bum- not to mention another thing to go wrong. I had an Oxford GSI on the Virago and it was a disaster when it started to go wrong. This one's stopped beeping when it deactivates which isn't too encouraging... So I've got a wiring cleanup on the way, I'm thinking I might just get rid of it before it gets a chance to make my life a misery. I've only one touchkey for it too...

Just wondered what's usually involved in the wiring? It doesn't interrupt normal electrical operation like lights etc, so it's not just smacked into the main live... Presumable it's tapped into the ignition circuit? Would it be a simple case of cutting it out and then repairing the break?

Yes. If you follow the wiring from the alarm/immobiliser unit to where it meets the main loom, (possibly multiple places depending on which/how many circuits it interrupts), you'll see that the wires from the unit are interspersed with the bike's wiring, routing the relevant circuits through switches in, and operated by, the alarm/immobiliser.
Most immobilisers break two circuits, ordinarily these will be the live supply to the ignitor/coil/s, and the live from the starter button to the solenoid.
