Default Watch out for tourists

They drive on the wrong side of the road.

Nearly stopped, bike flipped and landed on me. Fun afternoon in hospital to follow.
Bit sore but ok.

Bloody hell, sorry to hear that. Hope you get you and the bike sorted quickly. Where did it happen, and was it an European car/driver visiting the UK, or a UK driver f*cking up?

On the A498 near Pont Aberglaslyn. Lovely road by the way.

German guy driving, they'd just set off after a walk and been on the wrong side for a couple hundred metres. He was lucky it wasn't the land cruiser that I'd passed that showed him his error. But I can understand how it happens, no signs or traffic to remind him to drive on the left. I think we've all had moments, most of the time you get away with it.

Really apologetic and honest to the plod, they did him for careless driving at the road side.

Things I've learnt;

Being able to stop on the distance you can see doesn't always mean the thing you see won't get closer.

ABS is really good and you can brake as hard as you want without locking up.

When the rear wheel is above the front one the steering is less responsive.

Having the bike land on you prevents a lot of damage to the bike.

There are lots of nice people who will stop and help, the driver of the land cruiser was an absolute star.

In hindsight I could have gone round him on the right hand side of the road round a blind corner, but the consequences of doing that could have ended in death, so heavy braking and hitting him, I think, was the right course of action.

Assessment from A&E is that nothing is broken, so things could have been worse. Week off work in the nice weather yay, it's all ill wind that blows no good

Bike looks fixable to me, but well see what the assessor says. May be an opportunity to upgrade.

Ever seen the video of Orgers Stenno and Anya on their bikes in Germany? They forgot they were in Europe, lovely go pro footage of mountain road and them... driving on the left... They suddenly realise and change lanes moments before a truck comes round a blind bend towards them. Anya is German, but has lived in England a long time. They were lucky. Glad you are ok too.
