Default Technical Help: Macbook/Virgin Media

I recently had Virgin Media fibre internet installed. It is crazy fast...when it works.

I don't think it's a problem with the internet itself, as my partner's computer is fine.

It is intermittent, and so it doesn't always happen but when it does it is most frustrating so I was hoping that somebody may know how to fix this!

The issue is, when I use Safari and go to launch a webpage, the blue loading bar gets to about 10% and then just stops. Sometimes this can be for quite a while and for any web page I try to access.

I'm clueless as to why it's doing it only some of the time, and why it does it all!

Any help greatly appreciated

What happens if you use a different browser? eg Firefox?

Just give resetting the PRAM a try.

Shut your computer down.
Start it up again and hold down command+option+p+r
The mac should then start up again and you can let go after you hear the second startup chime.
See if that solves your problem.

Chrome has the same issues.

My iPhone is what I'm having to use for internet at the minute as the problem has got worse. My iPhone is connected to the wifi and works fine.

It's a Superhub 2.

I will give the resetting a try now.

Looks like that may have done it for now.

Thanks for all your input. Pookie too - who took half an hour out of his morning to talk me through some things.

Fingers crossed the combo of tinkering lasts and I can enjoy my internet without feeling the need to throw my computer out the window.

Lock the window and hide the key, just in case.

I gave up with the SH2 as it never worked properly wireless wise and I've had it 6 months, 2 engineers couldn't fix it. I have it in modem mode with a secondary dual band net gear router attached which works perfectly.

Seems to be working all fine and dandy now with not a single problem since I reset the PRAM and played with the channels.

I don't really care that much about whatever fancy thing it is supposed to do, provided it just works!
