SV650 2014 - FI on Pair valve removal
I'm finishing off a race bike build on a 2014 SV650. I removed the PAIR valve and used the appropriate resistor but still have an FI error for the PAIR valve. I will probably reconnect the valve to kill the error code, but I am curious.
I'm aware that things changed after 2010 (or was it 12), for example Dynojet don't list a Power Commander for these models because they can't get around the fact the bike throws up an FI fault for the O2 sensors. Everything works fine, but road riders don't want to be looking at an FI all the time. Also ECU flashing on these models is more difficult/impossible. Does anyone know a bit more about what changed in these later models that make them more difficult to bypass the FI errors? Any help appreciated. |

Hi and welcome. I can't help with your question, apart from suggesting you post this on SVRider.com too, as there are a couple of very knowledgeable guys there that might know (especially a poster with the username TeeRiver).

Re: SV650 2014 - FI on Pair valve removal
I've not done it either but after a quick search there seems to be some confusion as to the resistor value. Some people have said to use a 10k ohm
https://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121431 whereas other's have suggested a 25-30 ohm. Since it's replacing a solenoid I would have thought that the lower value resistor would be more appropriate, bearing in mind that more current will be drawn through a lower value resistor and so it will get hot, so make sure you have the appropriate wattage if you use a lower value resistor. If you type in: "site: forums.sv650.org pair valve resistor" (without quotes) it will use google to search this site for any thread with any mention pair valve resistor. Replace forums.sv650.org with the US site url if you want to look there. |

Thanks for the replies, will try the US forum.
The question is specifically about the difference between 2010 and 2014 models. |

Re: SV650 2014 - FI on Pair valve removal
There used to be a site called socalsvriders.com way back in 2000 (now defunct), on that was a guy called Zoran who was always very helpful when it came to racing the SV. He started a company TWF racing parts, https://www.twfracing.com/zparts.html
There's a forum attached to the site, that would probably be your best bet for help, or even direct a question directly to him. |
