You're going to kill yourself Andy. You've got a partner to think about.

It's pointless. Track days are for nutters only, stick to what i like doing and make the brews and keep the gazebo up. Pushing yourself is a bad idea, why would anyone want to risk thier safety, far more fun to know you'll get home in one piece. That's where i get my adrenaline from, knowing i'm safe and having the (static) time of my life.

andy - loads of good advice here by the looks of it. I have only done 2 trackdays (last one over a year ago sadly). First one was on the SV and I was rubbish. second on my ZX7r and I think the extra time riding had helped me gain confidence, but I was still slow. I went out with an instructor for 1 session. By the end I was lapping everyone in the novice group and he moved me up to the inters. my track position was rubbish before and it really slowed me down. i can take a reasonable line, but I couldn't deal with the other bikes. He told me to forget the line and just don't scrub off so much speed, go round them in whatever way you can. Little tips like that made me so much quicker. I think 20min with an instructor is well worth while.

Andy, fancy coming along on an early season TD next year?

Possibly Cadwell Park, Oulton or Silverstone? Hopefully there will be a few of us going and you can find someone to latch onto in your group that you know...

...And even possibly get a session with an instructor.

How's that sound?

i have the problem where the reason i dont tend to push it is as much as i could especially when i used to try for knee down was im more worried about wrecking the bike than anything else, i need to do a trackday soon!!

confidence in your own ability is a big thing imo, and in the tyres!!

take your time and speed will come, thats what happend for me on the road anyway, there is always gonna be someone who cares alot less about crashing, and so far from what i've seen these are the fastest people, the less you care the faster you go!

Silverstone

I struggled with trying to be quicker last year. Had lots of advice from the forum. Am yet to apply any of it, but top of my list is California Superbike School. I've heard they are amazing at what they do

Its looking like Anglesea end Feb No limits £59 (10% off if your a member of Throttlemonkey). Gonna have to be careful though as 2 weeks later the bike is in the container on its way to Almeria.
