Re: Scotland '09
Yes----Miss out the Skye tour day,but still go to the Talisker Distillery and back down to Armadale for the ferry to Malaig on to Oban,a slightly longer day.Friday round Lochgilphead and back up to CRIANLARICH for us or the campsite for you and Al
Sat short run for us back to Stirling via The Dukes/Thornhill and the afternoon for Colin to do Wallaces Ornament. No doubt we can work something out it is just the overnight accom that has to be booked so depending on what you two want to sort out as your arrangements for the Friday night,be it Crianlarich YH or the campsite. |

Re: Scotland '09
Alright southern softies, wot no updates??
Mac is your pm a secret Im assuming not, and that you've been your usual considerate polite self letting us know of your intended change of plan before posting on open forum. I've had a look at your revised schedule and its still tantalising and doable enough to keep me interested I've had a look at the trips from Oban to Iona and I'm assuming you're planning the one that incorporates Staffa for £48 as opossed to just iona for £33. I've had a wee look at the maps and hope this looks reasonable. Didn't know how many or few places you plan to incorporate within the trip so kept it quite simple and you can play with to your hearts content. Ullapool to Aviemore (Thursday, right?) for example is only 90 miles, if this is your plan i may do this which is 300 miles so quite a big day but manageable, i think. I haven't routed the skye trip as i dont know your preferences, however i'm assuming Talisker. If so i'd throw into the hat that it may be worth pillioning up that day to let some sample more than others (or perhaps a car hire (or loan from haggis) I would have suggested applecross for dinner but its probably a bit far to ride for a meal (50miles but probably 1.1/2 - 2hrs) Saturday the 20th Melrose to Oban, I've routed through a quaint wee place know as Denny, I know a local residence there that could provide lunch and facilities for weary travellers, Tiger55 could also meet there for the run to Oban if he was planning to go up on the Saturday (cant remember his schedule) Adds more time than distance but much better route than sitting on motorway for mile after mile. Also, how many are still going You 3, Allan and I?? could probably work it out myself if i read through all the posts but i'm lazy. The run from Aviemore to stirling i've played with a bit to incorporate some of the better roads including the Falls o' Dochart and the Dukes pass. However I probably wont do that route as i've to get home, sorted and up to tyndrum for the massacre that night. Lastly I cant find the thread for t-shirts, but it is late and I am dumb Last edited by Kilted Ginger; 07-04-09 at 01:09 AM. |
