Camping at Trier (Hein Gericke, Polo and a Suzuki/Ducati shop on the same road as the camp-site, next to the river) and Bernkastel-Kues (morning baker van is from the same place that the Hairy Bikers visited). Would recommend both. If staying in Trier, go and visit the Roman Amphitheatre and do the underground bit!

As loopydog has mentioned, the roads around the Eifel region are spot on.

I have stayed at his, which I heartily recommend! and have also stayed in a place nearer the 'ring in a town called Schuld.

We went for a days blast around the region doing backroads all the way. Make sure you visit Bad-Munstereifell (sp?) and also pop down to Remagen. The ring is nice to spot some serious car/bike pron but riding the local roads is more fun.

In the area end of August ish.
