Default Those who cycle to work....

I'm contemplating starting to cycle to work and whilst from the health and enjoyment side, this is quality, I don't want to be sitting around all day smelling like a turd.

So, what are my options?
There are no showers where I work. So I was thinking, get changed there, in the bogs, have a quick wash + deodorant.

Unless anyone knows of anything better? I don't really want to do this if I'm going to stink for the whole day..

Ask for them to install employee showers and start a Green Travel Plan. Basically means they encourange people to get to work in a green manner, lift share, bikes etc.

It goes down as a plus for the company in the same way a being an investor in people.

I work for the civil service...
Seeing as all of the budget restrains currently, I'm not sure if I'd get anywhere. (Tea/coffee provisions have gone already)

Shame it's on page 40 of the DFT guidance for travel plans which it encourages all employers to do. Sorry to threadjack, but I hate the do as I say, not as I do mindset. Even if we are in a recession.

Indeed.
In all fairness, and from a business point of view, we lease the building we are in as far as I know, so, we'd obviously have to get permission from landlords and such, and potentially, should we move out, lose the benefit of having such works carried out.

Prepared to get wet if you are going to do it all year round. Cycle when its cold and do it slowly? You will get used to cycling and actually stop sweating so much

I was surprised how little you sweat if you give yourself plenty of time and dress appropriately. I cycle 8 miles each way and have never had a problem with being sweaty at work - I allow about 45 minutes to get there and get changed which is plenty of time

I did 7 miles each way for a year .. barely got warmed up in the end. Obviously leaving plenty of time to get to work and slowly after the pub back. Always ended up with the obligatory stripe up my backside after rain.

After 1 day cycling in the rain I bought mudguards - an essential item for a commuter - its the not the rain coming down but the wet muck that splashes up thats the problem...
