Default What spark pugs do you use? Pointy.

I serviced my '04 SV a few weeks ago and after reading so many good things about these plugs I thought I'd give the bike a treat and refit with NGK iridium plugs CR8EIX instead of the usual standard NGK plugs I usually fit. When I first started the bike after fitting the plugs a was a bit spluttery but soon picked and has been OK ever since, until the other evening.

I'd been on the motorway for about 20mins, it was a warm evening and the engine temp was running at 87c, but then when I came of the motorway the bike felt very rough when the revs dropped below 3k and even cut out a couple of times. I have since checked the TPS and lowered to 1450rpm from the 3000rpm it was at, but I'm also wondering if the plugs could have been overheating. I haven't had chance to check since adjusting TPS but stood still it seems OK

Hence my question what plugs do you use, I've also read of issues with faulty NGK plugs, but up to now apart from the odd dud plug I've had no trouble

Thanks

Longway

I fitted those CR8EIX, although I read that there's not necessarily any benefit over the standard ones. Certainly no adverse effects in my case, but can't point out any specific benefit either since I fitted them at just about the same time I did the TPS and balanced the TBs. K6 pointed one by the way.

hhmmm there does indeed seem to be a faulty batch of the iridium's as you are the second person on the forum to complain in the past week. i also have had problems with them as they seem to be made of cheese.

There are fake NGK plugs around. Get them from a reputable source to be sure.
