Default Hello - New Rider & New SV650 Owner

Hi,

Took a few attempts but got in eventually

After being into cars for years I turned 24 and wanted to try my bike test. Did CBT and I enjoyed it so did DAS and passed Mod 1 and 2 with no problems. One minor for a 2nd gear hill start but that's all.

As for the bike I wanted something I could learn with rather than hang onto and the SV650 seems to fit the bill. After looking about locally everything was overpriced or scruffy, especially given it wasn't even Summer yet. Probably doesn't help there's not much choice for bike stuff in South Wales so there's not much competition. Had to travel to get it but was worth it. Will post a pic later but it's a clean one. Only done 7000 miles from new with one older owner and has a full fairing.

No doubt you'll see me ask some dull questions soon but bikes are new to me and we've all got to start somewhere.

Thanks

Martyn

Hello new rider and new sv650 owner.

You might find you'll hold onto your SV longer than first anticipated.

Hello, welcome to the Org. We are a friendly bunch on the whole, so don't worry about asking questions, the worst that can happen is that we stone you to death with old copies of Fast Bikes!

Ride safe and check out your regional section, South West Surfers, for local events and to see where the locals hang out, so that you can avoid them!

Not the best of photos but I'd only stopped briefly. Just want to ride it all the time. I'd never ridden a bike up until my CBT so I'm still learning how much lean I can get away with. Got a few quiet roundabouts I can practice on next weekend. As for cleaning it all my car detailing gear is fine for the fairings and tank but what about the frame and underneath? Is there a spray I can use to dissolve any oil and dirt then hose it off? Once I do that I'll seal it all including the wheels.

Nice looking bike there! Try not to make it a habit of stopping near drain covers like the one in the pic, as one day your sidestand will magically fit through and it will be a very akward sight!
