Default Where to buy old vinyl?

Some of my dad's vinyl collection was damaged by a flood years ago (kinda my fault). So for his birthday I'd like to replace some of them with originals in as good condition as possible. Where is the best place to start looking? I'm guessing it wouldn't be as desirable if it was a new pressing?

The worst ones seem to be the Neil Young ones because they were at the end of the alphabetical shelf which is where the water was

I'll need to have a better look to see what else was damaged

Oddly enough Oxfam have book and record shops dotted around. Most charity shops have them as I always see them while camera hunting.

As Kenzie says, charity shops usually have some vinyl but unless you're lucky, probably not what you want. Selection is usually very middle of the road.
There's always ebay or other online vinyl retailers such as discogs.
I'm lucky enough to have a second hand record shop where I live and coincidentally bought Harvest and After the Gold Rush last year for about £6 each. Best bet would be to look for one of these and have a browse.

Actually, you're in Dundee. Is Grouchos still going? I used to get lots of stuff there.

Would the vinyl itself be damaged?
Perhaps there's an opening for production of replica labels, and some sleeves will be more valuable than the record they protect. ?

good luck finding decent priced records these days as its trendy. 20 years ago skips were full of them as nobody wanted them, even the charity shops get picked clean these days.

I was in a charity shop in Rochester the other day, they had loads of records - loads of interest too.

www.discogs.com - can spend hours trawling Oxfam, in the hope that a) you find what you want and b) they aren't going to overcharge you to find their ridiculous east end trendy stores.

Discogs is great, get on it.
