Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Thanks guys, really appreciate the welcome. Not worthy of a fuss though.
In my wanderings of the places other than here you’d expect I’d done lots but sadly not. The best thing I’ve done is actually related to this thread (was impressed to see this one endured so well!) I built a home bar. No beer/wine as I can’t drink that so it’s spirits and cocktails only but it’s my happy place hehe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
Hah, I couldn’t condone drinking and riding :P
I’d need an extension with permission for hostelry and we’d be set hehe. I just realised without context for the intervening years how much like rampant alcoholism this looks! The last few posts on here were the start of my exploration into whisky (mainly scotch) but then I ended up on a trip to Atlanta and that seemed pointless to pay exponentially more for scotch so I sullied myself with Bourbon (and discovered a whole new world, less nuanced but still diverse) and some (commercially available) moonshine. Resumed my scotch exploration which was now forming a collection after graduating from many many miniatures. Got a second trip to the US (Nashville) and as luck would have it, if I stayed an extra day I could attend the Nashville Whiskey Festival it’d be rude NOT to at this point. Got to try SO many more than I’d usually experience even on a decent bar tab night. Discovered more whisky festivals when back in the U.K. and have tried so many now that I’ve started to lose track so some diligent record keeping is required heh. So while I have a LOT of alcohol (and quite an ability to drink without being affected) I don’t drink MUCH. Quality over quantity and all that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ooh, I’ve got a bottle of mead to try. Will give that a go sometime now you’ve jogged my memory. Cool, I don’t think I’ve the patience for making my own stuff. Seems super satisfying though. Limoncello doesn’t count as this required no patience with sous vide it was done in 2hrs rather than 6-8 weeks heh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice to see you're still around Brett, plus that Limoncello looks nice

Welcome back! I've been enjoying some Jim Beam Dark Cherry just lately, really nice with a sweet aftertaste.

Re: The Org Bar, Pull up a chair and share. What're you drinking?
The only thing I make is sloe gin but it does take a long time to mature. I make a batch each year and meanwhile, I am drinking last years batch. Since I sweeten it with sugar syrup instead of granulated sugar, I use Sainsburys 43% gin as the base spirit. Without a hydrometer, I guess it comes out at around 38 - 40%.
