Default AUX output installation - '05 VW Golf

Hey guys,

Some advice would be much appreciated. Looking to install an aux output in my car. What is the best way to go about doing this? Easy to do myself, or should I take it to a garage or even the dealer?

Not looking for some fancy little kit. Want the same original design with the aux output just added on.

Any ideas?
Cheers

Basically so that I can plug in my ipod.

At the moment it's just am/fm/1CD, no cassette system.

What to an amp?

If so, you can buy a stereo ( speaker wires) to stereo phono convertor quite cheap, it basically takes left and right speaker cables and converts to phono left and right, so you can plug it into an amp etc.

It would be worth finding out if the car's stereo system has a line in slot for a multi cd changer. usually an option when buying the car new.

If so you'd be able to use that.

I think it does. Found this.

and this

Would have no idea how to go about installing it though, and not sure which one to go for, ie if the car is prewired or not.

which steroe do you have fitted, as vw have a number of differant radios, the base model did not have an aux in, you my find it easier to go on flea bay and up grade the radio.

Ahh you mean AUX input

Pull the cd player out and see if it has any input connectors or if that adaptor would work.

My cd player isn't vw but it has input cables that I have wired down through my centre console for my iphone

I've a mk5 standard unit in my attic, the car's got quite a few extras on so it might have aux in. Will have a look if you want and I get chance!
